Migraine and Headache Specialist Denton TX
For those searching for a migraine and headache specialist in Denton, Texas, we recommend reading through this page. For years now, Texas Migraine Clinic has been one of the primary leaders in effective and lasting migraine and headache treatment. As it stands, we utilize one of the only treatment systems based on lasting results for headaches and migraines. We modified this system to function over video calls, enabling patients to be treated in Denton, Texas, even if we based in the San-Antonio and New Braunfels area.
What makes our treatment system so different?
There is only one main thing that separates the treatment system we use from all other approaches. Neurologists and Chiropractors, alongside practically every other migraine and headache specialist, focus on one thing. As you may have already experienced, they focus on either managing the pain that the attacks bring or preventing or decreasing their frequency. As an example, neurologists generally give medications to prevent migraines or to manage the pain.
Let's just say you just dislocated shoulder. After showing up to the hospital, the doctor gives you pain medication. Over time, the medication does its job, and the pain gradually becomes more bearable. Just because the pain went away, was the problem fixed? Of course not! After a few hours, the pain will come back with a vengeance. Rather than sending you home after the painkiller, the doctor sets your arm back in place to re-locate your shoulder. After doing so, you are given instructions in do's and don'ts for assisting your body in the healing process.
Most all practitioners will stop at treating the symptoms. They may do this by prescribing medications, or by doing other alternative therapies to decrease the symptom intensity or frequency. However, the pain and attacks never truly go away. The underlying issue that causes headaches and migraines consistently remains unapproached. Most are not even aware that the source of migraines and headaches is already known.
What is the focus of our treatment system?
Our focus is unique in that it treats the underlying cause of the headaches and migraines. This is similar to what the doctor would do by re-locating your shoulder. This treatment system focuses on fixing the root problem that causes the symptoms.
In 2003, a spine specialist by the name of Dr. Turner came across what he believed to be the underlying cause of the majority of all headaches and migraines. After designing a rough treatment system to accommodate his findings, Dr. Turner began clinical trials on patients. He treated patients who suffered from headaches and migraines while simultaneously working on patients with lower back pain. Over the course of nearing two decades, Dr. Turner perfected his treatment system and founded Texas Migraine Clinic.
Over the years, he has helped thousands of patients with their headaches and migraines. And his efforts have resulted in one of the best lasting relief methods in existence today.
Our Focus
The focus of Texas Migraine Clinic, as a whole, is to assist patients in ending their own respective migraine and headache problems as efficiently and effectively as possible. The removal of headaches and migraines enables patients to move on with their lives, as many find themselves held down by the burden of headaches and migraines. Knowing that our work allows patients to move forward with their activities and creates a lasting impact on their lives drives us forward in our work. It is our mission to bring headache and migraine relief to the world.
"Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication" -Leonardo da Vinci.
This quote by Leonardo da Vinci is one of the core principles of Texas Migraine Clinic. Dr. Turner refers to this when explaining his practice. Many believe that they have too big of a problem for a gentle treatment system to handle. However, that is not the case. Significant issues, especially if they are headaches and migraines, require meticulous and delicate approaches to solve them. Otherwise, the problem may end up worse than it originally was.
The Unapproached Symptoms of Headaches and Migraines
Another factor to consider with headaches and migraines is that the pain is not always the worst repercussion. There have been studies on the correlation of depression anxiety accompanying headaches and migraines. There are two main reasons that these may exist.
First off, many treatments for either preventing symptoms or managing them can cause generalized anxiety and depression. For example, Trigger avoidance, probably the single most utilized pain management approach, may be a leading factor in mental health issues with debilitating migraines and headaches. Trigger avoidance is avoiding the things that can set off an attack. Bright or flashing lights are a prime example of this. Avoiding light itself is one of the main reasons you may find yourself holed up in a dark room. There is a long list of triggers that are exceedingly difficult to avoid. And trying to avoid all of them, most of the time will force you out of what you want to do. It impacts sufferers' social lives and their ability to function with responsibilities, which can produce a sense of purposelessness.
Second is medication side effects. This one is a bit more self-explanatory. It is not uncommon for anxiety and depression to be a direct result of the drugs that are taken to dampen the symptom intensity or frequency.
There have been studies showing that stress can trigger attacks, and from our experience, it does. Anxiety is commonly known as generalized constant stress. It is also not impossible for anxiety to be a trigger in itself. To sum it up, Migraines can cause, or be caused by anxiety. Because of this, it may cause a vicious loop cycle. The underlying root is not the anxiety, however, but the injury that is inflamed as a result of your body being under stress.
The Freedom of the Texas Migraine Clinic Treatment System
Outside the bounds of completely fixing the root issue of headaches and migraines, we have a second focus. Our second focus is freedom. It was mentioned a little earlier, but we will delve in a bit deeper. Migraines and headaches can be a debilitating problem. This means that a sufferer's overall ability to function is reduced drastically. It may be to the point where they can fulfill their duties with difficulty, or they cannot even meet any of the requirements of their responsibilities. Not to mention, many may not be able to do what they enjoy.
We get satisfaction from seeing people no longer under the bondage of pain. However, we get even more satisfaction knowing that the removal of that pain enables our patients to thrive. Not only does it make it possible for many of them to do what needs to be done, responsibility wise, but they can also freely do what they want to do.
Online Treatment
Before Covid-19, Texas Migraine Clinic has been treating patients with headaches and migraines globally over one on one video calls with patients for several years. After Covid-19 hit, all treatment was moved online, and it quickly became the preferred form of treatment even with those who used to come into the clinic for treatment. The treatment system in use is based on patients being walked through how to fix their own problems. And because of this, it is not necessary for a practitioner to manually treat patients in person.
Summary
In summary, Texas Migraine Clinic uses the most effective known treatment system available. It is the most developed of its type, as well as one of the only lasting treatment options for headaches and migraines. Our average patient treated here has had migraines for over 27 years. Each has been to approximately five different types of doctors without finding any lasting solution that fixed the underlying problem.

Does it work for everyone?
Although very useful, this treatment system is not the perfect fix for everyone's migraines. Yes, the overwhelming majority of patients do graduate the system successfully (Drastically reduced or completely removed attack frequency and intensity), but there will always be a minority we will be unable to treat. It is uncommon for a patient to have a problem that is unable to be resolved or understood.
This natural migraine and headache treatment is entirely non-invasive. It is only to assist your body in fixing itself where the issue lies. Your body cannot heal on its own unless the root issue is resolved. No matter which treatment system you pursue, we are hoping the best for you.
